N is for Narrow your team. 

I highly recommend hiring a team; just do a search on Reddit and you’ll immediately start sweating at all the DIY horror stories. But the reason we have a lot of DIY’ers out there is, yes cost, but mainly because they don’t have trust in who they would hire. 

And yes, there are horror stories that come with hiring professionals too. But the majority of those are because the homeowner didn't do their research.

So how do we hire the right professionals? 

This isn’t a quick google search. You’re not swiping right and going on a date (and if you are, you know how that goes). You can't really test the waters to see if you’re a good fit. This is an instant marriage when you start your project, so you really have to do your research. Take your time, get to know them, and get referrals. Don’t just take their website, their expensive truck or a single past project’s word for it. 

Do. Your. Research.

And hire your trifecta team. That is your Contractor, Architect or Architectural Designer, and Structural Engineer. This team will be the foundation of your team's structure.
