Fireplace

While this isn't exactly an exterior item (unless you will have an outdoor fireplace), parts of it can be, so it does need to be chosen sooner rather than later.

Specified on your plans, are you putting in a gas, electric, pellet, or a wood burning fireplace / stove? Is it an insert or freestanding? Single, double, 3-sided or 4-sided? Air tight or open? 

Visit your local fireplace supplier to view your options. I recommend bringing your plans along or be prepared to email a PDF version of the plans because there will be some questions they will be asking based on the type of fireplace. 

Check with your contractor on the budget and your design team on the style. Modern, contemporary, traditional, etc., Linear, arched, etc. 

Other considerations are the style of logs, brick or glass colors, mantles, surrounding materials like stone, tile, brick, siding, plaster, etc., and the chimney cap. 

Congratulations, you have just completed all your exterior decisions!
