Post-Project Money Review
To complete your Post-Project Money Review, answer the following 3 questions.
Questions
1. Calculate everything that you’ve spent on the project (and I mean EVERYTHING).
Did you end up on, under or over budget? Which areas did you notice weren't budgeted enough? Or maybe too much (never a bad thing).
Take that number and divide it by the overall square footage / meters. Is that what you had calculated? More? Less? It doesn’t matter. It’s a realization that it is anything but accurate (but it’s still a little intriguing and fun).
2. Did you end up on, under or over budget?
Which areas did you notice weren't budgeted enough? Or maybe too much (never a bad thing).
3. If you were to do this all over again, what would you tell your future self?
What would you have done differently? What would you do the same? Take note for future reference if you were ever going to do this again.
BONUS: Now that the house is complete, what’s that one thing?
What’s that one thing you’re going to do / buy? A long soak in the bath? A cozy night in front of the fireplace? Host a housewarming? Still need curtains? Or always have your eye on a hot tub? It’s time to make this house a home.
No more action needed - You've done it! You have completed your Post-Project Money Review and your entire project! Congratulations!
This time, go celebrate! Decompress by treating yourself (whether it costs money or not). Have you been eating horrible meals throughout your project? Go out for a nice dinner. Dying to get that couch you’ve had your eye on? Go get it. Want to show off your house - you should! It’s not 100% ready? No one cares. Host a house-warming and have everyone bring an appetizer.
You should be proud of what you have accomplished & created.
Now go and enjoy it!
