Day 4

Exterior colors

Your exterior colors can be done in 2 ways, depending on the material you have chosen. You can either get the color pre-painted / stained prior to install or once it’s installed. I highly recommend if you’re using a wood product that will be stained, to at least pre-stain 1x prior to install.

If you are using a product that comes pre-colored, like metal siding or stone, or a product with a pigment instead of paint, like stucco or concrete, then you best get on it sooner than later.

If you haven't already taken our Inspiration Workshop (also inside our Clarity Course) to create your Inspiration board via. Pinterest or Houzz, I highly recommend heading back and doing so.

Then, go into your Pinterest ‘Exteriors’ section and see if there's any trends. Go to your local paint store and grab a handful of swatches and/or visit the manufacturer for some samples. *Don’t forget your roofing material color.

Bring them all together to see if they work well together. Don’t forget you will also need a color for your fascia, trim, bargeboard, columns, etc.

Also, check with your Interior Designer to see if this is included in their services. If it is, they will help narrow down your choice in colors.

PS. See any interior paint colors you like too? Grab them. That will be coming up!

PPS. If you're struggling with choosing your exterior colors, upload a picture of your home (existing or 2D/3D plans) into a color visualizer like this one by HGTV and play around with it!
