Your Subtrades List
Sub trades... Sub contractor... Whatever you like to call them, there will be a large number of professionals working on your project, from electricians and plumbers, to insulation installers and window manufacturers.
A recent survey by the National Association of Home Builders in the United States determined that builders use an average of 22 sub trades to build a house (HMI Survey, April 2015).
And for good reason.
Just as you wouldn't want a plastic surgeon to also be your physician, I would not want my window manufacturer to also frame my home.
So with all these professionals working on your home project, you're going to need something to keep track of them and their contact info.
Enter the Sub Trades List.
Download this list and fill in each prompted professional's company name, the name of the professional you work directly with, their phone number and email address. Add your project's address, building permit number, and your contact name and phone number.
The top 5 are the professionals that are contacted throughout the project should a question, issue or inspection arise regarding their specific expertise.
FYI: Your City may supply a Sub Trades list of their own at various stages prior to requesting an inspection. This is to confirm that each trade has a valid City / District business license. If that is the case, then no inspection will be performed on a project where a trade is working without a valid license.
