Here at Homeowner HQ we’re always finding ways to save our members money. The latest sale, deal, etc.
This past week Canada announced a new program helping homeowners switch from an oil-fired heating system to a heat pump. We're a fan of heat pumps over here so we wanted to let you know incase you've been wanting to make the switch. It can help you save thousands of dollars on your heating bills every year.
The 2 questions,
Is your home heated by oil?
Is your household at or below the median household after-tax income?
Canadian homeowners who answer “yes” may qualify to receive an upfront payment of up to $10,000 under the Oil to Heat Pump Affordability Program to switch from oil heating to new, energy-efficient heat pumps.
If you're eligible, this can cover:
Necessary electrical and mechanical upgrades to your home for the new cold climate air source heat pump
The safe removal of your oil tank.
Installation of a back-up electric heating system (as required).
Switching over other oil-using household systems, such as a hot water heater (where necessary).
Note: Hybrid systems (central ducted heat pumps paired with an oil, gas or propane-fired furnace) are not eligible under this program.
For applicants residing in Alberta, British Columbia, Manitoba, Northwest Territories, New Brunswick, Nunavut, Ontario, Quebec, Saskatchewan, Yukon, click here to learn more.
Residents of the following provinces need to apply through their provincial programs.
Newfoundland and Labrador
Nova Scotia
Prince Edward Island
If you're in Homeowner HQ, please let us know how the process went. How much were you able to save and how much did it cost you in the end? And how much did you save on your heating bill?
And of course, if you know someone who would benefit from this program please spread the word. We hope this helps as many people as possible.
