For completing your Variance Permit, you will need a few of the following:

  • Variance Permit application form

  • Land survey

  • Existing photos showing the area of requested change

  • Architectural plans (Conceptual)

  • Title of Certificate (identifies the owner(s) of the property)
(Google 'land title certificate + your province/state')
Note: Generally required to be no older than 30 days.

Additional possible information:

  • 3D rendering (optional but effective) (Examples in the next lesson)

  • Letters of Support (from neighbouring homes)

Double check with your City about their application requirements. Visit your City's website and search 'variance permit' to find the application form and any additional information like checklists, guides, links and more.

In the next lesson, we're going to talk about the Letter of Support and how to write one for your project.
