Exterior Railings

Back to your architectural plans, check to see if there are any design specifications to your railings, if you have any (if not, enjoy the day off!). What was drawn? What material is or could be used? If you have any 3D models or renderings, what material and color look to be used? 

Based on your budget (yes railings can be pricey) will you have the railings custom made, prefabricated (semi-custom), or stock / kit? Check with your contractor on the budget and who or where they recommend purchasing from. If you’re purchasing a kit, double check with your contractor that your kit complies with your state or provincial building codes. 

Your fabricator will also need to know the decking material and how the railing will be attached (check the plans).
