A few rules apply while you're staying at the house. Shoes may be left by the door, but muddy boots are strongly encouraged. The fountain is to be admired, questioned, and never adjusted without permission from the Misses. No member of staff is to be asked whether something will “only take five minutes,” particularly Frank. Guests are expected to keep the kettle full, close the garden gate behind them, and report any suspicious noises immediately—unless it is coming from the mechanical room, in which case please do not investigate. Members may use the Library, Workshop, Study, Sourcebook and other rooms of the house freely, provided they return everything approximately where they found it. The house is always being worked on, so please excuse the dust, the noise, the occasional ladder, and whatever Walter is currently digging up. Finally, members are reminded that all advice given within the house should be taken in the spirit in which it is offered: useful, practical, and occasionally with a side of unsolicited opinion.
